Issue 001 A highly unreliable travel journal

Travel went
slightly off-script.

Fictional dispatches from missed buses, accidental festivals, heroic snacks and people who said, “I know a shortcut.”

Read the dispatches

Every story and character here is invented. Any resemblance to actual trips, people, goats or luggage is gloriously coincidental.

Wish you were
probably here?

Dispatches from elsewhere-ish

Four stories. Zero facts checked, because there are no facts.

Gate 404: Departure Not Found

Rohit followed the airport signs so faithfully that he arrived at a retirement party for a baggage carousel. There was cake. His flight left without him, but Carousel Seven gave a moving speech.

*Or 43 minutes if your gate changes twice.

The Great Coconut Negotiation

Maya tried to bargain for one coconut using two currencies, a bus token and advanced mime. The vendor listened gravely, gave her two coconuts, and charged a consulting fee.

The mime was, by all accounts, unconvincing.

The Night Bus to Somewhere Else

Arjun boarded the 11:10 to Lakeview. At sunrise he reached a village called Lake-ish, where nobody had seen a lake but everyone had strong views about breakfast.

He stayed for the parathas. Obviously.

The Room With Every View

The hotel promised “a view in every direction.” Technically true: wall, curtain, ambitious houseplant and a corridor where Uncle Dev practised whistling at dawn.

The houseplant received five stars.

About this peculiar publication

Not a guide.
A travel companion with poor impulse control.

Bakchod Stories is a tiny fictional travel journal celebrating the detours that become better stories than the destination. It is written for airport-floor philosophers, window-seat negotiators and anyone whose itinerary has ever quietly given up.

No destinations are reviewed. No unsuspecting humans are featured. No tale is borrowed from the internet—or reality.
